What You Get and What You Don’t
When you buy an Alt eSIM, you get access to Optus's network in Australia and New Zealand. This is not Optus's own product, but our travel eSIM that roams onto their network. You will not get Optus's own plans, contracts, or physical SIM cards. For example, if you are traveling to Australia for a week and need data, our eSIM can provide that by connecting you to Optus's network. However, we do not offer any voice call services or coverage details beyond stating that it works on Optus's network.
Applicable Destinations
Our eSIM works in Australia and New Zealand, which we refer to as '澳洲' and '澳洲+紐西蘭' in Chinese. These are the only destinations where our eSIM roams onto the Optus network. If you are traveling to these locations, our eSIM is a convenient option for staying connected. For instance, if you are visiting Sydney and Auckland on the same trip, you can use our eSIM for data access in both cities. However, if you are traveling to other countries, our eSIM will not work there as it is not designed for those regions.
Choosing a Plan Shape: Daily vs Total Data
When selecting a plan, you can choose between daily plans and total data plans. Daily plans offer 1GB per day and are ideal for short trips. For example, if you are traveling for five days, a daily plan ensures you have 1GB of data each day. On the other hand, total data plans range from 1GB to 50GB and are better for longer trips or when you need more data upfront. For instance, if you are staying in Australia for a month, a total data plan might be more cost-effective. The cheapest plan across these options is US$2.26, with daily plans working out from US$1.27 per day.
Getting Connected
To get connected, you need to install the eSIM on your device. This process is straightforward and can be done through a QR code or by manually entering the activation code. Once installed, you can activate the plan and start using data immediately. For example, if you are at the airport and need to connect to the internet, you can quickly set up the eSIM and be online within minutes. However, make sure your device is compatible with eSIM technology before purchasing.
When the Allowance Runs Out
Once your data allowance is used up, the speed will drop to 128 or 384 kbps. This speed is still usable for basic tasks like checking emails or browsing the web. For example, if you are on a trip and run out of data, you can still stay connected with slower speeds. However, for activities that require higher bandwidth, such as video streaming or video calls, this speed may not be sufficient. It is advisable to monitor your data usage to avoid running out at critical times.
